True, but then again most publishing companies are like that. There's no 'musician's heaven' in this one. You'll only get freedom if you make it all by yourself, but the major downside to that is you'll never be heard on things like TMF, or have an album in stores. You could get some publicity through iTunes though, if you're good/renowned enough and it would be 100% your work.
